Hadar Shamir
Founder & CEO
Hadar Shamir began his career in the capital markets in 1992 as a portfolio manager and in 1997 started to manage his own small-scale nostro trading activity.
In 2004, together with Nir, he acquired Gilon 1979 Ltd. and through a reverse merger transferred the private nostro activity into the listed company traded on Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
In 2005, Gilon expanded to include classic asset management through the acquisition of Sprint – Portfolio Management & Trust Funds.
By the end of 2005, the company was a fast growing investment house, specializing in arbitrage trading between the U.S. and Israeli markets and had become a very active underwriter, provided M&A services, advised on fund raising and reverse merger transactions and worked closely with local institutional investors. At its peak, Gilon employed over 30 day traders and was responsible for 15% of the daily trading volume in the Israeli Market.
In 2007, the controlling stake in Gilon was sold.
Hadar went back to manage his own private nostro account that is managed under the brand name “Shamir Capital” together with Nir Shamir.
Hadar holds an MBA in Economics and Finance from Reading University.
Nir Shamir
Founder & Head of Trading Desk
In 2000, Nir Shamir, Hadar's younger brother, joined Hadar and took part in the nostro activity. His focus has been equity and options trading.
Under the leadership of Hadar Shamir, in 2005 he co-led the acquisition of the asset management company Sprint – Portfolio Management & Trust Funds and drove it from $75M AUM to $500M AUM by mid-2007. Following the combination of the two businesses, Nir was in charge of the trading desk with more than 30 traders.
Following the sale of Gilon, Nir joined forces with Hadar and co-founded S.H.N. Financial Investments. With Nir’s leadership, S.H.N. Financial Investments expanded its secondary market operating activities, as well as the US mid-cap equity strategy – a unique focus for Shamir Capital.
Nir holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration from the Management College in Rishon LeZion, Israel.
Jessie Katz
Managing Director – Head of Research
Jessie Katz started his career in the equity markets at Oscar Gruss & Son where he worked as a sell-side equity analyst in the technology/biopharma markets servicing the major Israeli institutional investors (AUM of 40-60 billion USD).
Following Oscar Gruss, Jessie joined Harel Insurance where he was in charge of the analysis of equity investments in the excess of 500 million USD mainly in the technology markets, but also in pharmaceuticals and biopharma market. During this period, Harel moved to the top place in the Israeli insurance market.
Jessie possesses specialized expertise within the TMT markets focusing on cyber, software, data center, cloud, semiconductor and semiconductor equipment, and telecom markets.
Since starting at Shamir Capital, has further developed in-depth knowledge of the biotech market and is strongly focusing on several different markets such as oncology, NASH, ophthalmology, medtech, and many other spaces. Jessie has been focusing on the analysis of data in this space and is strongly focused on undervalued assets that have strong chances to pass Phase 3 trials and commercialize thereafter.
He holds an MA in Finance (cum laude) from the University of Zurich and is the holder of the FRM and CAIA designations.
Meytal Purvin
Head of Back office.
B.A. in Business Management.
Internship in Finance.
Working at Shamir Capital since 2015.
Provides management and collaboration between analysts, traders, and banks to ensure accurate and timely completion of daily settlements, and more.
Mange collaboration between company, brokers, and transfer agents during the investment process.
Meytal started her career at Bank Leumi LeIsrael LTD, in the capital market division, foreign securities back office. Later on, Meytal moved to a position within the business division of Bank Leumi, providing services to institutional clients and public companies.
From Bank Leumi decided to return to the securities back office and moved to Discount bank where she was part of the capital market division. During this period, she worked in the function of a controller of the nostro and customers' foreign securities back office.
